The North Conway / Conway area has the largest concentration of shopping, restaurants, and recreational facilities in the White Mountains .
North Conway is home to the Conway Scenic Railroad and its beautifully restored Victorian Station, which was built in 1874. Adjacent to the railroad station is the 18-hole North Conway Country Club .

The attractions in this area are many: an in-town summer repertory theatre , concerts in Schouler Park in the center of North Conway, terrific shopping along Route 16 and in the village, and a picture-perfect setting.
To the West are White Horse and Cathedral Ledges, both favorites with rock climbers. A seasonal road goes to the top of Cathedral Ledge where there's a great view of the valley below. At the Ledge's base, Echo Lake State Park offers a sandy beach and a picnic area. The North-South Road paralleles Route 16 from North Conway Village to Route 302 in Redstone, offering views of Pudding Pond, woods and fields along the way. It can be accessed directly from Kearsarge Road, where the Cranmore Mountain Lodge sits.
Just South of Conway, Route 16 intersects the Kancamagus Highway , which runs for 34 1/2 miles from Conway to Lincoln, which is one of the most spectacular sections of the White Mountains Trail . It traverses the White Mountain National Forest , crosses the flank of Mt. Kancagamus and climbs to nearly 3,000 feet, providing dramatic views. Along its length are hiking trails, federally designated Scenic Areas and some stunning overlooks.
Are you travelling with children?
No matter their age, there are so many interesting activities to do, just minutes away from Cranmore Mountain Lodge.
Storyland is of course an enchantement for every child and is just 15 minutes away from us. They now have a real circus with several shows every day! It opens usually for Memorial Weekend until Columbus Day (only weekends starting Labor Day).

You can also try Santa's Village , just 45 minutes from North Conway Village. Visit Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm , with exhibits that change with the season so there is always something new for the curious of every age to discover.

Hiking with children can be a challenge, except when you choose the right hikes! Try Black Cap Mountain, just a short drive from us, that offers scenic views of all the Valley. Diana's Bath is also a very popular hike among families. After a short walk of about a mile (that can easily be done with a stroller!), the children will be rewarded by a serie of wonderful falls and swimming holes!

You can even organize a half day of climbing with your child, as well as snowshoeing and geocache treasure hunt with EMS Climbing School and Guide ! Learn how to fish in our pond and beyond with Clearwater Fly Shop, or just bring your fishing poles for some fishing fun in our pond stocked with trout!
When the weather is not so good, you can try the Children's Museum , just 5 minutes away, or the Hartmann Model Railroad & Toy Museum (see below for other ideas of activities for rainy days).
In Winter, go tubing on Cranmore Mountain Ski Resort, try snowshoeing or x-country skiing for FREE at Great Glen Trails where you can also go dogsledding, climb up Mt Washington in the Snow coach, take a sleigh Ride at Nestlenook Farm Recreation or Farm by the River, go ice skating in Schouler Park downtown North Conway or treat them with a journey to the Polar Express ! There are so many things to do, you will need more than 3 days to discover them all!
